Shisso - Biography

Allen Scrigner, aka SHISSO, is a singer, electro-acoustic improviser and composer. He started in 1996 as front man for rock the bands Naked Beauty, Junkie Shine and Meat Torpedoes, playing many gigs in Italy and all over Europe.

In the year 2000, together with Mescalinaeden, he formed the experimental duo Cognàc, recording 3 EPs: Bon Voyage (2000), Soundtrack for a Blue Movie (2001) and the live Cognàchismo (2002). Every EPs has got a particular sound: from the unconventional experimentation of the first one, to the more regular and melodic sound of the second one, to end with the live for voice, bass and drums.

In 2005, out of a digital improvisation was born a new composition called “Goccia”, showing the real change from the analogue instrumentation of the past, to the new digital sounds. SHISSO’s music is the result of all these experiences mixed with all his influences and his musical background.

In studio he uses laptop, voice, and especially toy instruments, which are his real obsession. His music is oriented to a claustrophobic dark-ambient, with harmonious melodies. Also SHISSO is involved in an embryonic new collaborative project that explores free-jazz, ambient, avant-rock and music for films.

In December 2006, he participated to an improvisation, located in the big and unexplored cave “Grotta Caterina”(on the borderline Italy-Slovenia), inspired by the Pauline Oliveros’ composition named Deep Listening, with the famous Hungarian soprano Krisztina Nemeth and and his main collaborator Mescalinaeden.

At the moment, SHISSO is working to a new composition called “Ucronìa”.
