BEST GREEK RECORD OF THE MONTH (OR IN A WHILE, ACTUALLY) MUST BE THE SPLIT BY MESCALINAEDEN AND EVENTLESS PLOT (GRACE TONE 7"). MESCALINAEDEN HAVE A COOL, GURGLING PSYCHEDELIC SWOOP WITH CAN-LIKE OVERTONES. EVENTLESS PLOT OFFER A MORE CONTEMPORARY SOUND-SHIFTING COLD DUNES OF WOOZE INTERSPERSED WITH THE HACKING COUGH OF ELECTRONICS. NICE SOUNDING STUFF, ESPECIALLY MESCALINAEDEN TRACK.

New Domestic Sounds (2007)

As a sound designer I have always been interested in the way sound can be used in a domestic environment in order to stimulate and train people to listen more deeply to the soundscape around them and therefore understand it better. Listening more consciously to the world also helps us improve our creativity and quality of life.
At present I am working with the London-based interior designer Adrienne Chinn (www.adriennechinn.co.uk) to integrate sound installations into some of her work, in order to inspire and at the same time relax the minds of people who look for something more artistic and exciting inside their domestic walls.

Sound Design for a spoken word piece that will be used for a book, dedicated to the experience of the musher Henry Coronica during the sled dog race "Finnmarkslopet" in Norway. (2007)

This spoken word piece called “Men and Dogs” documents the life of the sled dog racer Henry Coronica and his Alaskan dog team.
Coronica is the first Italian musher to complete the most challenging sled dog race in Europe, the ‘Finnmarkslopet’, 500kms across Norwegian iced tundra in the freezing conditions of the Scandinavian winter.
This race was particularly demanding for Coronica, as his dogs have been bred and trained in the warm Italian climate and were unused to the freezing Northern temperatures which can reach up to 30 degrees below zero.
The extraordinary life of Henry Coronica is an example of one man unique relationship with nature, his dogs and the will to pursue his dreams.
I have spent a few days with Henry on the Alps interviewing many people involved into the race and recording many sounds that could represent his particular life.
This sound piece will be part of an audio-book contained in an autobiographical book written by Coronica himself.

Sound Installation at London College of Communication about the sound of the water of the torrent Rosandra in Italy (2007)

A multi-channels installation in a narrow and reverberating corridor, in which it is possible to hear the recordings in various locations of the Rosandra torrent. Through digital manipulation and the natural changes of pitches of the torrent, the whole piece becomes a random musical piece.

UNCERTAIN CHIMES: Sound Installation at the London College of Communication (2006)

I have been playing drums for eighteen years and I have always been fascinated by the sound of the cymbals. When I hit a cymbal, the frequencies float in the air ending in nowhere land, producing a kind of indeterminate and evolving mantra. This sound installation is made of a few cymbals hanging from the ceiling, a few beads positioned in front of them, a wind machine, some microphones, my four tracks tape recorder and some analogue effects. As I wanted to play with randomness, I found an indirect way to perform with my installation, where the objects interact with themselves and I just stand on the side helping to express their own "language". The wind machine moves the beads that are hanged in front of the cymbals that are suspended from the ceiling, producing random and indefinite sounds. Also, I positioned a few microphones behind the wall of cymbals in order to capture and manipulate, with my four tracks tape machine and effects, the sounds that they generate. In this way I created a chance composition that incorporates unlimited patterns and unexpected outcomes. From Tibetan music to John Cage, I want to take my chances with uncertain chimes!

The song "Gnosso" has been released by the label "Boltfish Recordings" on the IDM compilation called "Mercury Scales" (2005)

Mescalinaeden's cascading "Gnosso" is a fabric from outer-space, enriched with the sounds of connecting planets --its breathing entity of ambience stutters across the landscape with threaded beats, making for a thoroughly enjoyable listen. (Igloo MAG)
